EngageMessage lets you filter and segment important groups of users, so you can send them precise messages which results in more sales. For example, you can create a segment of loyal customers and send them special promotions, or you can create a segment of VIP customers, shopping mums, or whatever you like.
In this article, we will cover some basic information on segments.
What is a segment?
A segment is a group of contacts.
You can set rules to select a group of contacts and call this group of contacts a segment.
When you add new contacts to your EngageMessage contacts list, if the new contacts match the rules you set for the segment, the new contact will be automatically added to the segment.
You can create as many segments as you need in EngageMessage.
There are several predefined segments on EngageMessage: Active, New, Slipping Away, etc. Those predefined segments have predefined rules, but you can change the rules anytime you want or create new segments.
How to create a segment?
First, we need to use filters to select a group of users.
Open EngageMessage app
Go to the Contacts page
Tap All Contacts
Tap Add Filter
Add filters to select a group of contacts. You can add as many filters as you want.
Set the logic between filters. βandβ means the contact needs to match all the rules; βorβ means the contact needs to match either one of the rules.
Tap Save Segment and name your new segment
Done!
Your new segment will appear on your contacts page. Any new contacts that match the rules you set for this segment will be automatically added to this segment.
How to edit a segment?
To edit a segment, you just need to tap the segment, tap the rules on the top and make your changes. Don't forget to save the changes by tapping the Save Segment button on the bottom.
How to delete or rename a segment?
You can only change the name of the segments you create, but not the predefined segments.
On the Contacts page, tap any segment and hold for a second
Tap the More button - the three-dot icon - on the top right corner
Tap Rename Segment or Delete Segment
