If you can't connect your Instagram account to EngageMessage when you're following the instructions to connect your account, you can check this list to see where the problem is:
#1. Check if your Instagram account is a business account
Open your Instagram app on your phone
Go to Menu
Go to Settings
Tap Account
Tap Switch Account Type
If you see "Switch to Personal Account" and "Switch to Creator Account", then it means your Instagram account is a Business account. If you don't see these two options, you'll need to switch your account to a Business account.
If your Instagram account is already a Business account, this is what it should look like:
#2. Check your Instagram and Facebook connection
Go to www.facebook.com and navigate to the list of pages you have access to (or click this link). Click on the page that is linked to your Instagram business account.
Click Settings on the left side menu bar.
Click Instagram.
If your Instagram and Facebook Page are properly linked, you will see your Instagram business account here.
If you see a screen that differs from the image above, it means your Instagram account is either not connected to your Facebook page, or it hasn't been converted to a business account.
Here are some cases you might see and why:
1. Connect Account button
This means you haven't linked your Instagram account to your Facebook page. Please follow the steps here to complete this process.
2. Switch Now button
This means your Instagram account is linked to your Facebook page, but it hasn't been converted to a business account. Click Switch Now and follow the on-screen instructions to convert your Instagram account to a business account.
Note: your personal Facebook account must be Facebook Page admin in order to switch the Instagram personal account to the business account.
3. Review Connection button
This means that the account must be confirmed before third-party applications are able to verify the connection. Please click the button and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm. Note: If you encounter issues with this process, you may need to reach out to Facebook Support in order to confirm the connection.
#3. Check your Facebook Page role
Your personal Facebook account needs to be the admin of the Facebook Page which connects to your Instagram business account.
Click Page Roles on the left side menu bar.
If your personal Facebook profile appears under "Existing Page Roles" as an admin, you can go to the next step.
If your personal Facebook profile appears as other roles, you'll need to ask the admin to grant you the Admin role.
Check this article on how to manage roles for Facebook Pages.
#4. Check Permissions
Open Facebook App on your phone
Go to Menu
Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy
Tap Settings.
Tap Business Integrations
Find EngageMessage in the list of integrations and tap Edit
Ensure that all permissions are granted, click Save
If everything is checked and set up correctly, but you still can't automate your Instagram and Facebook, you can reset your Instagram connection.
